I have contributed an essay titled “Post-Olympic Transformation” to the book Barcelona: Urban Architecture and Community Since 2010 (Munich: Edition DETAIL, 2023). In it, I discuss the city’s historic use of global events as a catalyst for modernization, arguing that the most recent urban plans, such as the Superblocks initiative, signal a return –of sorts– to the city’s 1980s democratization era.
